The Year 8 children have been learning about sustainability as part of their CE and scholarship preparation in Geography. By modelling their designs, it reinforces a full understanding of how urban environments can be adapted to reduce their carbon footprint and make them more sustainable, eco-friendly and more attractive places to live. Singapore, in particular, is in the vanguard of this inspirational green movement and has been a fascinating case study for our pupils to learn from!
Model Eco houses were completed by Year 6 pupils in only 2 lessons of Geography. They show how homes can be made sustainable and eco-friendly by incorporating features such as solar panels, green roofs, wind turbines, living walls and electric vehicle charging points. This was a creative and kinaesthetic learning opportunity that completed the pupils' understanding of settlements this term, whilst incorporating an awareness of environmental issues.
Well done all!
