Maths

The St. Andrews Mathematics department continues to look to develop and innovate the way in which we deliver our Curriculum.

We go beyond the National Curriculum Framework to enhance the experience that the pupils receive to ensure that they are not just learning from a Whiteboard. This breadth enables us to explore topics outside of the classroom and enables us to investigate subject areas that they may encounter later on in their educational journey.

Whilst we do set the pupils, it is a very fluid system in which we ensure that the pupils development is absolutely paramount.  The key difference between the two sets would be in the pace of the delivery rather than the key curriculum areas.

As a department we enjoy taking pupils to different mathematics challenges in the local area and take part in national competitions such as the Primary Mathematics Challenge and the UKMT Junior Mathematics challenge

Our aim is to make mathematics as accessible and enjoyable as possible for all our students through the use of a variety of teaching methods to accommodate different learning styles.
