European Day of Languages

This week we have celebrated the European Day of Languages. This focus day was initiated in 2001 by the Council of Europe, during the European Year of Languages. It has been wonderful hearing about the different language experiences that our learners have had in all sorts of different places, be it at home, with different friends or family members or on holiday, to name just a few.

Children in Nursery and Pre-Prep have enjoyed learning about different greetings and studying different European flags. They really enjoyed tasting foods from different countries and it was wonderful to witness learners trying and enjoying new foods.

Year 3 had fun making a matching game to test their knowledge of common words and phrases in different languages. How many different languages can you say ‘hello’ in?

Year 4 were very excited about taking part in an ‘Escape Room’ quiz. You will be pleased to hear that they cracked the code!
