Welcome from the Acting Head

Halstead St Andrew’s School is a school that truly places the children at the core of all we do. We strongly believe every child is unique and their educational journey should be based on unlocking their passions, whether that be academic, sporting, musical or through the array of creative opportunities we provide at Halstead St Andrew’s School.

The Pre-Prep site, based at Woodham Rise, allows our youngest children the opportunity to have their own designated music, performing arts, computing, art, library and sports facilities. For Year 3 and above, Church Hill House facilities include an astroturf pitch, state-of-the-art theatre, extensive playing fields, swimming pool as well as specialist classrooms and teachers as you would expect to see in a senior school. We are located in the village of Horsell, within a 15-20 minute walk to the centre of the commuter town of Woking. The extensive grounds on both sites allow us to create a tranquil and fun environment for the children to learn and grow as individuals and enjoy the experience of childhood.

Whilst we are rightly proud of the facilities we can provide the children, it is through the relationships in the classroom that we are able to provide a warm and caring culture. The positive relationships between the children and the staff allow each child the opportunity to thrive, feel valued and achieve their potential academically. Through a broad and dynamic curriculum, we aim to prepare the children for the challenges of the 21st century whilst developing the values and qualities required to be responsible citizens.

We are a true community and the staff, parents and children develop strong bonds. The best advert for the school is the children and I hope you will take the opportunity to visit us. I would be delighted to give you an individual tour where you will be able to witness, in person, our wonderful school.

Dominic joined St. Andrew’s School as Headmaster in 2020.  During his tenure, the school continued to develop and flourish gaining 'excellent' in both academic and pastoral areas in the most recent ISI inspection.  Dominic led the school through COVID, developed a structure to ensure the school was financially secure and increased pupil numbers to an historical high prior to the merger.  In addition to Headship at St. Andrew’s School, Dominic held various leadership roles in prep, all-through, boarding schools and Governance.  He has a wealth of experience in the independent sector.

Dominic, in collaboration with the Governing body, was a key driver of the school’s strategic plan and played an integral part in the recent merger of Halstead St Andrew’s.  He was the driving force behind the school’s vision to move up to GCSE and is a passionate advocate of the new, Halstead St Andrew’s School.  Dominic is working at a strategic level with the Board of Governors to develop the vision of the Senior School, ensuring that the school is prepared to welcome the first cohort of Year 9 pupils in 2026.  With his experience in leadership, Dominic is also supporting the Senior Leadership, when appropriate, on both the Church Hill House and Woodham Rise sites.

Dominic is a big part of the school community and is joined by his wife Sarah, who is a lawyer and has two young children, one of whom attends Halstead St Andrew’s School.
